You can tell a lot about a person by the stuff that they have. You can tell even more about the items that they cherish most. It can tell their hobbies, their aspirations, how they spend their time, what kind of friends they have, or maybe something about their family. Seeing just three items that a person owns may not tell everything, and some assumptions may prove to not be true at all. However, we can only try and that it my goal: To try to depict what kind of persons would possess the three items they have listed to sell. The first item included in the auction is a cellular phone. This phone is called the Samsung Moment, which is a smart phone. In the description the seller found it important to list the camera and photo capabilities as well as special applications one can purchase with the phone. In addition to being at least partially technologically advanced, this person probably relies on their phone’s camera to capture moments quite often. This may mean they are very social in nature, wanting to share their moments with other via text messages or social networks. The apps feature which seemed to be important to the seller could be because they have free time where they may want entertainment on the go. The seller could be someone who travels often, leaving them with free time on car, train, or plane trips. The next item the seller puts up for auction is their vehicle. The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion. Right away one can assume that this person has a wealthy family. Since the vehicle is a 2010 with only 10,000 miles on it, we can assume that they probably purchased the car brand new. Also since it is so new, we can assume that this college student received the car right away and that it was not handed down from a parent. Since the seller is a student, it is likely they could not afford this vehicle on their own. The seller’s parents most likely purchased the vehicle for them to take to college with them. This indicates that they are probably not from Topeka, and got the car partially so that they could travel safely to and from their home town. They probably come from a family with a considerable amount of money that can afford to purchase a brand new car for their teenage son or daughter. Assuming this to be correct, this can indicate that the person has a fairly stable family life and that they likely live in a two parent household, allowing for more luxuries such as a new car. The car being a blue sedan, as opposed to a more sporty car can indicate that this person is practical, realizing that benefits of having a four door car outweigh the benefits of a fun, sporty car for this particular individual. The final item that the seller had up for auction was an HP laptop. Although the seller was able to post the programs that they have on their laptop, they were not able to be nearly as descriptive as one normally would be when selling a computer. This could mean that they are not as ‘techie’ as I first determined. This person likely uses their laptop for schoolwork and social media but probably does not know the inner workings of it, nor can they tell you what is much different about it from any other laptop. This probably does not bother them, however, because they do not care to know this information. It is not anything that probably will be useful in their major or life. The combination of the three items can sum up to tell me that this person very likely could be social in nature. They also take frequent vacations with their family who is well off and probably pretty stable. The seller is likely practical and while they enjoy their computer for media and it comes in handy for homework, they are not likely to be a computer science major. Even though almost every college student has a cell phone, a vehicle, and a computer of some sort, even those can still tell a story about who someone is.
